How to become part of the club

Becoming a member of API P&SC is easy and offers a range of benefits. Our annual membership provides access to facilities, shooting events, training sessions, competitions, social events, and skill-building workshops.

API P&SC welcomes you to visit the club up to five times before deciding if it's the right fit for you. During these visits, you’ll get a hands-on introduction outlining safety aspects and shooting matches, guided by a club instructor.

When you choose to join the club, you'll start as a probationary member. This requires passing both theoretical and practical exams. After successfully completing these, you can apply to the Committee for full membership.

For more detailed information on the process to become a probationary member or a full member, please contact us.

Our story

Founded over four decades ago, API P&SC has grown from a small group of passionate shooters into a well-known and respected club within the local community.

The club was officially gazetted on 22 May 1980 as the Australian Post-Tel Institute Pistol Club. Its formation was inspired by the 1979 South Australian and Northern Territory Divisional Games, held in Renmark, where pistol shooting was introduced. With growing interest among Telecom and Australia Post staff, the club was established to encourage the sport amongst locals.

Thanks to a grant from the Department of Sports and Recreation, a new 20-metre range was built at Dry Creek in 2017, where the club has been based ever since.
