Our story
The club's origins trace back to December 14th, 1977, when an advertisement in the YP Country Times invited community members to discuss the formation of the Kadina & District Pistol Club. This initial meeting, chaired by Mr. Max Slee, took place three days later at the Kadina Town Hall. Discussions included potential locations for club facilities, including an air pistol range and a live fire range.
The club's official inception occurred on February 13th, 1978, with the inaugural meeting held at the same venue. Chaired by Mr. John Bettess, the meeting welcomed guests, including representatives from the South Australian Target Pistol League (SATPL) and the S.A. Police Pistol Club. The founding committee was established, and the club unanimously voted to affiliate with SATPL, a partnership that continues to this day.
The club leased its current site in 1980, and in the mid-1990s, it expanded its scope by rebranding as the Kadina & District Shooting Club to include a wider range of shooting disciplines. Today, the club operates at 60 Old Duryea Mine Road, Kadina, continuing its rich tradition of promoting the shooting discipline, whilst fostering a thriving shooting community.
