Welcome to the United Pistol & Shooting Club Inc. (UPSC), where shooters of all skill levels come together to experience the dynamic and rewarding sport of shooting. Nestled in Middle Beach, our outdoor range combines a safe, supportive environment with an inclusive community that welcomes individuals and families alike.

At UPSC, we pride ourselves on fostering a welcoming atmosphere where members are always eager to share their expertise and assist newcomers. Whether you're brand new to the sport or looking to sharpen your skills, our club provides the resources and encouragement you need to thrive. 

Our club offers a variety of competitions and activities for participants aged 10 years and older (please note that minors can only participate with a small-bore rifle and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).  

The art of pistol shooting emphasises precision and focus, making it a thrilling sport for those with a passion for accuracy and dedication. We encourage you to join us and discover the excitement of sports shooting in a friendly, professional setting.

What we do

    Weekly Shooting Sessions

    Our club ranges are open to members seven days a week during daylight hours, offering unmatched flexibility. Whether you're looking to engage in competitions or hone your skills during a practice session, our facilities ensure you have the time and access you need. In addition, we host an annual match program with diverse shooting sessions held on both Saturdays and Sundays. These sessions cater to various disciplines, including big bore centrefire pistols, centrefire pistols, rimfire pistols, air pistols, single action rifles (lever action), shotguns, and small-bore rifle matches.

    Beginner Training Programs

    New to shooting? We’ve got you covered. UPSC offers beginner training led by experienced, accredited instructors. Our training program covers essential topics such as safe firearm handling, match and range rules, and understanding firearm laws and regulations. We’re committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for all participants.

    Competitions

    At UPSC, members have opportunities to showcase their skills in club competitions, compete for the prestigious Club Trophy, or represent the club in the South Australian Target Pistol League interclub competition.

    Social Events

    We’re more than just a shooting club — we’re a community. Join us for social events such as Club Trophy match days, annual general meetings, or festive celebrations like our Christmas functions. We blend skill-building, camaraderie, and exciting events to create a great experience for our members.

How to become part of the club 

Interested in joining UPSC? Becoming a member is a straightforward process, and we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

  • Step 1: Book a "Come and Try" Day -

    The first step is to contact us to arrange a "Come and Try" day. This is a great opportunity to meet our members, explore our facilities, and determine whether competitive shooting is the right sport for you.

  • Step 2: Submit Your Membership Application

    If you decide that this exciting sport aligns with your interests, the Club Secretary will provide you with a membership application form. Complete the form and submit it to the club committee for approval.

  • Step 3: Guidance Through the Process

    The Club Secretary will assist you with all necessary processes and paperwork. Once your application is approved by the club committee and processed by SAPOL, your successful membership will be officially confirmed.

  • Step 4: Training and Mentorship

    After all formalities are completed, an accredited instructor will be assigned to guide you through the mandatory training course. Once you’ve successfully completed it, your instructor will continue to mentor you throughout your first six months of membership, helping you integrate smoothly into the club.

Our story

The United Pistol and Shooting Club Inc. has proudly served the shooting community since its establishment in 1974, maintaining over 50 years of continuous operation at its original location.

Situated on a sprawling 85-acre property at 684 Middle Beach Road, Middle Beach, the club offers an extensive range of facilities tailored to meet the needs of pistol, rifle, and shotgun enthusiasts.

Our mission is to provide a safe, enjoyable, and supportive environment where members can hone their skills and share their passion for shooting sports. We take great pride in our friendly, country-style atmosphere and remain committed to constantly enhancing our facilities to ensure safety and satisfaction for all our members.
