Whyalla Pistol Club
Welcome from the President
At the Whyalla Pistol Club, we are deeply committed to fostering a secure, supportive, and inclusive environment where shooting enthusiasts of all experience levels can thrive. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or new to the sport, our club provides a welcoming space to hone your skills, cultivate friendships, and share in the passion for shooting.
We are excited to share that a 200-meter range has recently been constructed at our facility. This addition marks a significant milestone for the club, creating exciting new opportunities for silhouette matches and larger-calibre rifle events, both of which are now a regular part of our calendar. Additionally, our indoor shooting range offers an enjoyable experience for shooting enthusiasts to enjoy.
The Whyalla Pistol Club also boasts six certified firearms instructors, ensuring that members have access to expert guidance and tailored coaching. These professionals are dedicated to supporting skill development, firearm safety, and confidence-building at every stage of a shooter’s journey.
Our vibrant community has consistently maintained a dedicated membership of approximately 30 individuals, reflecting our warm yet tightly-knit culture. With the completion of a new clubhouse, our members now have a space to relax and connect outside of training or competitions, further strengthening the bonds within our club.

Our story
The origins of the Whyalla Pistol Club trace back to 1961, when it was first established and began its shooting activities in the historic Hummock Hill quarry. This served as the club’s initial home, providing a unique and distinctive setting for its early members to practice and foster their passion for competitive shooting.
A significant milestone came in 1975 when the club transitioned to its current premises located on Broadbent Terrace. This relocation marked a new chapter of growth and development, enabling the club to improve its facilities and offer members a more dedicated and modern environment for their pursuits.
Over the years, the Whyalla Pistol Club has remained committed to fostering community and excellence within the sport of pistol shooting. Previously, the club proudly operated under the South Australian Revolver & Pistol Association (S.A.R.P.A.), benefiting from a shared commitment to advancing the sport. More recently, the membership embraced a pivotal change, voting to join the South Australian Target Pistol League Incorporated (S.A.T.P.L. Inc.). This decision reflects the club’s dedication to evolving with the times, aligning with an organisation that supports its vision for the future and offers new opportunities for growth and collaboration.
The Whyalla Pistol Club’s remarkable history, spanning over six decades, stands as a testament to the resilience, ambition, and unity of its members. Through their ongoing efforts and shared passion, the club continues to thrive as a hub for shooting enthusiasts, preserving its legacy while striving toward a vibrant future.
